Muskegon, MI (June 4, 2018) – Taste of Muskegon is expanding their offering for the 2018 Festival. On June 16, Kids Safety Saturday will fill Webster Ave and 3rd St with family-fun activities. Starting at 11 am, Muskegon Heights fire trucks, the smokehouse, Pro Med’s ambulance and Muskegon County Sheriff’s operations vehicle and K-9 unit will offer kids opportunities to interact with our local safety teams. The Michigan Child ID program and the Lion’s Project KidSight will also be available for the event. Other additions to the Kids Zone include meet-and-greet opportunities with local sports teams, Noah’s Project craft tent, and Muskegon Winter Sports Complex’s portable luge.

New this year as well is Yoga in the Park, three free yoga sessions run by Rootdown, Blue Horizons Wellness and Muskegon Yoga. Tyler Sales is hosting a beer garden and, on Saturday, a craft beer contest between Pigeon Hill Brewing Co., Unruly Brewing Co., Fetch Brewing Co. and Grand Armory Brewing Co. Rad Dad’s Taco & Tequila Bar and Chef Jack Page will be sharing their expertise with tastings in a Tequila Cantina. By popular demand, Taste of Muskegon merchandise will be available along with Watch Muskegon gear. This addition also allows for Taste tickets to be purchased by credit card at the merchandise tent. The Muskegon Farmers Market and Kitchen 242, the benefactors of Taste of Muskegon, will be in the park offering cooking demonstrations. Taste will host 12 more food vendors than last year and a fresh music lineup featuring The Accidentals on Friday night.

“The festival is growing and we are excited about all the new additions we are able to offer. Friday is usually a party atmosphere so we are bringing bands that will play to that well. Saturday is all about family so we decided to have the Kids’ Zone take over the street for the day with a variety of activities for all ages to enjoy.” Ann Meisch, Director of Taste of Muskegon. Taste of Muskegon Presented by Cole’s, being put on by the City of Muskegon for the first time, will take place on June 15th and 16th in Hackley Park. It joins Parties in the Park Friday night and will feature the West Michigan Offshore Club Powerboat Street Party as part of Powerboat weekend. Saturday will kick off with United Way’s Ride United and feature Let There Be Rock, an AC/DC tribute band in the evening. Awards for Taste of Muskegon’s best plates will take place Saturday afternoon and includes both judge and public votes.
