Over $575,000 given back to local nonprofits on Match Day

MUSKEGON, Mich., June 15, 2020 — Held in response to COVID-19’s impact on the community, the Community Foundation for Muskegon County’s Match Day on June 3, 2020 raised over $575,000 for 42 nonprofits along the Lakeshore.

 

Match Day was developed by the Community Foundation, United Way of the Lakeshore and local donors to provide operating support to partner organizations that typically rely on private fundraising to fulfill their missions.

 

Of the gifts that came in, 30 donor advised funds held at the Community Foundation made 85 grants to nonprofits, 1,809 online donations reached over $290,000, and over $90,000 in checks were collected by the participating organizations. When combined with a match pool of $123,915, the full amount raised for Muskegon County’s nonprofit community on Match Day was $578,403.

 

In addition to a $75,000 grant from the Community Foundation’s Unrestricted Funds, the following sources funded the match pool: Anton Family Fund, Batka Family Fund, Essex Family Fund, Jan L. Deur Fund, Pat & Julie Donahue Fund, Trip & Nina Johnson Family Fund, Action Industrial Supply, Sand Products/Mart Dock Fund, Wahlberg Family Fund, Rick & Pam Kramer Fund, i’move Fund, Doris & Jack Mixer Fund, Chis McGuigan & Gary Neal, and 71 individual contributions on Match Day.
