MAISD Board selects Randy Lindquist to be next superintendent

In a public meeting last night, the Board of Education unanimously voted to hire Randy Lindquist as the next superintendent for the Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD). Lindquist is the current MAISD Associate Superintendent for Academic Services. He has served the MAISD in a variety of roles for 15 years and his leadership throughout the county has been impactful.

Board President Lee Suits said during his interview Lindquist shared a compelling vision for the future of the organization. “He will strengthen the services offered through MAISD programs and he will collaborate with and support our local districts” she said.Search Consultant Peter Haines, of the Michigan Leadership Institute, said Lindquist is one of the “finest educators in the state” and he was very pleased with the board’s decision.  Many MAISD staff members attended the open interview last evening demonstrating the overwhelming support that Lindquist has garnered during his time at the MAISD. Staff praised Lindquist’s leadership style and the way he develops and empowers leaders.

Lindquist finished his public interview by stating “I have been interviewing for this position for 15 years and I am humbled to have been selected to serve the MAISD in this way.  I am excited to lead our organization as we promote the success of every student in Muskegon County and see them flourish.”

The MAISD provides programs, leadership, and services to 12 local public school districts and four public school academies. Its staff members work in five program and service areas including business and finance, career and technical education, technology services, instructional services, and special education. The MAISD operates centralized special education programs for its constituent districts, a career and technical education center, and federal Head Start and Early Head Start programs.
