MANISTEE — Over the past 19 years, the Little River Casino Resort has raised more than $800,000 to benefit various charitable organizations in the area through its annual Charity Golf Outing.

This summer, the event’s 19th annual installment brought in $63,206 alone, which was officially distributed on Friday to eight nonprofit organizations during a check presentation at the Little River Casino Resort.

“This year, we selected eight different charities between Mason County, Manistee County and the Muskegon area,” said Chad Eckhardt, Player Development Manager at the Little River Casino Resort. “A lot of these charities have to be privately funded. They look for contributions, and it’s really important to keep these organizations going.

“We really feel strongly, here at the resort, about giving back to the community that we live in,” he added, “and help give a boost to these organizations that can sometimes struggle with funding.”
