FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

[Muskegon, MI, Nov 20, 2023] – Family Financial Credit Union is thrilled to announce that they have been awarded the prestigious Dora Maxwell Award for Community Service Achievement by the Credit Union National Association (CUNA). This esteemed recognition places FFCU in 1st place at the state level in their asset size, highlighting their outstanding commitment to community service.

The award-winning initiative centers around FFCU’s remarkable partnership with the Muskegon Luge and Winter Sports Complex, a collaboration that has had a profound impact on the lives of elementary students in Muskegon County. The program, designed to break down financial and social barriers, ensures that these students have the opportunity to experience the complex and engage in winter outdoor activities they may not have otherwise been able to access.

Jim Rudicil, the Executive Director of the Winter Sports Complex, expressed his gratitude for FFCU’s support, stating, “Family Financial Credit Union played a pivotal role in getting students out to the park. Many of these students had never experienced snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or luge before. The program goes beyond recreation; it includes an educational and wellness element about being outdoors in the colder months, emphasizing that there are activities to enjoy all year round.”

Deb Dietz, CEO of Family Financial Credit Union, shared her enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “Our collaboration with Muskegon Luge and the Winter Sports Complex is a point of pride for Family Financial Credit Union. Witnessing the students’ joy as they explore the outdoors and discover everything that West Michigan has to offer is truly fulfilling.”

Bill Bailey, Community Relations Manager for Muskegon Luge, emphasized the significance of FFCU’s support, particularly for West Michigan students living in low-income areas. “Despite living just minutes from Lake Michigan, some students have never seen it, let alone experienced all it has to offer. Family Financial Credit Union’s commitment has made a significant difference in opening up new horizons for these young minds,” he said.

Family Financial Credit Union is honored to receive the Dora Maxwell Award for Community Service Achievement and remains dedicated to making a positive impact on the communities they serve.
