Whitehall, Mich. – Calling all history buffs! Lakeshore Museum Center invites you to enjoy a Taste of History at Michigan’s Heritage Park on Saturday, August 18 from 10 am – 4:30 pm. Event goers will have the chance to explore Michigan’s 18th-century cuisine, from the types of historic food found during this time, to how it was prepared and cooked — and of course, there will be taste testing, too!

Sponsored by Confessco and Kriesel’s, the event provides an opportunity to discover the popular culinary options and cooking methods that took place during the 1700s. Visitors can watch cooking demonstrations performed by reenactors, and enjoy a variety of hands-on activities throughout the park. A wide array of samples will be available for purchase, with taste tickets priced at just $1 each.

Wendy VanWoerkom, Michigan’s Heritage Park’s Program Manager, shared, “We love putting on the Taste of History event. Not only does it educate our community on the interesting cuisine that was prepared centuries ago, but it also gets them excited about Michigan’s fascinating history.” She added, “Best of all, visitors get a chance to taste and sample each historic dish! What better way to get a taste of history than to sample and savor it for yourself?”

The event takes place at the Trail and Activity Field inside Michigan’s Heritage Park. General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors, $7 for kids, and free for children 2 and under. $1 tasting tickets can be purchased at the event. Most samples require 2-3 tickets.

Michigan’s Heritage Park is located in Whitehall at 8637 North Durham Road. The park is open from 10:00 am to 4:30 pm (last ticket sold at 3:45).
