Application Deadline – Friday, April 20
Muskegon, Michigan – The Lakeshore Art Festival, in partnership with the Muskegon Museum of Art and the Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce, is organizing an exhibition of public art in Downtown Muskegon for the summer of 2018. Artworks will incorporate a real kayak and will be on display beginning July 5. All artists 18 years or older are invited to submit an application to participate in the project no later than Friday, April 20.
Accepted artists will receive a $500 stipend and a kayak with stand. Kayaks are being provided by KL Outdoor, the world’s largest kayak manufacturer, which recently chose to locate their corporate headquarters in Muskegon.
Designs must measure no more than eleven feet high and six feet wide and must be weather resistant with all sculptural elements securely attached to the kayak. Artists will also be responsible for picking up their kayak between May 1-4 and delivering their completed sculpture no later than June 25.
