West Michigan Senior Advocates Coalition Invites Community Members to Participate in Advocacy Efforts

Muskegon, MI — The West Michigan Senior Advocates Coalition (SAC) invites community members, organizations, and advocates to take part in ongoing efforts to improve conditions, services, and legislation affecting older adults and people with disabilities across Muskegon, Oceana, and Ottawa counties.
SAC is a non-partisan coalition of mature adult organizations, disability advocates, intergenerational groups, and individuals committed to staying informed about aging and disability issues and communicating those concerns to government officials and the broader community.
Coalition members participate by attending meetings, engaging with local, state, and federal policymakers, sharing information within their communities, and helping identify unmet needs among older adults and people with disabilities. Meetings are held four to six times per year during legislative sessions and are accessible both in person and virtually.
The next Senior Advocates Coalition meeting will take place on Monday, March 9, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. at Tanglewood Park, 560 Seminole Road in Norton Shores, with a Zoom option available. The meeting will include conversation with federal legislative aides, providing an opportunity for mutual information sharing in a respectful, non-partisan setting.
“The Senior Advocates Coalition values thoughtful, civil dialogue,” said Pam Curtis, facilitator of the coalition and CEO of Senior Resources of West Michigan. “Our goal is to ensure decision-makers understand what older adults and people with disabilities are experiencing in their daily lives, while also giving our members insight into policy efforts that may not always be visible in the headlines.”
Community members with a strong interest in advocacy, public policy, or aging and disability services are encouraged to attend.
