Muskegon, MI – November 2, 2017 – The West Michigan Lake Hawks will be opening their season against the Illinois Bulldogs. This will be the first time the teams face off. “I’m excited to welcome the Illinois Bulldogs to the ABA. They are new to the league, but not professional sports. This will be a great season opener, and a tough challenge for us, however, we are looking forward to seeing where we stand in the ABA. We’re currently ranked 11th nationally, but we have teams like the Bulldogs coming to prove a point this season,” states Coach Ron Jenkins. The season opener will be at Reeths-Puffer High School, 1545 N Roberts, Muskegon, MI 49445. Tip-off is at 5 pm.

The Lake Hawks welcome back five returning players, but have revamped the team for a better chemistry and smooth but powerful game. “We have several new guys, but they’re talented and ready to perform in front of their fans,” says Jenkins. All returning players are West Michigan natives. Those returning include Marquis Brewer, Xavier Fletcher, Deontae Hudson, Tyler Ingalls and Terry Walker.

The Lake Hawks are three-time division champions, reigning in the North Central Division the past three years in a row. This will be their fifth year in the ABA, which consists of 108 teams nationally. For more information, please visit www.lakehawksbasketball.com and www.abaliveaction.com.
