Urgent Call for Volunteers to Support Older Adults
Muskegon, MI – AgeWell Services is issuing an urgent call for volunteers from Oceana, Muskegon and Ottawa counties to support both the Meals on Wheels and Senior Medical Transportation programs. Every weekday, AgeWell Services volunteers ensure that older adults receive not only essential programs and services, but also connection, safety and independence.
Through Meals on Wheels, volunteers deliver nutritious meals, safety checks and friendly visits to older adults who are homebound. For many participants, the volunteer delivering their meal may be the only person they see that day.
Through Senior Medical Transportation, volunteer drivers provide rides to essential non-emergency medical appointments, ensuring older adults can access doctor visits, dialysis, chemotherapy and other critical healthcare services they might otherwise miss.
Right now, the need for volunteers is critical in:
Meals on Wheels
- Montague / Whitehall – Wednesdays and Fridays for 1.5 hour routes
- Grand Haven / Spring Lake / Ferrysburg – Mondays and Fridays for 1.5 hour routes
- Holland – Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays (sub volunteer drivers) for 1 – 2 hour routes
Volunteers deliver meals using their own vehicles. Mileage reimbursement is available. Background checks are required. Training and a ride along with a current volunteer required.
Senior Medical Transportation
- Muskegon County only – Mondays thru Fridays for either 8 am – 12 pm or 12 – 5 pm
Volunteers drive a fleet of AgeWell Services vehicles. Background and license checks are required. Training and a ride along with a current volunteer required.
AgeWell Services invites everyone to help ensure that older adults in our community continue to receive the meals, medical access and connection they depend on.
