Spire Development Celebrates Grand Opening of Amity Commons and Allen Crossing with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

MUSKEGON, Mich. — Spire Development, Wolverine Construction, and community and development partners, will host a ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of Amity Commons and Allen Crossing, two new affordable housing communities bringing critically needed housing opportunities to Muskegon residents.

The celebration will take place:

Wednesday, May 27, 2026
2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
159 Amity Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442

Community leaders, housing advocates, development partners, and local stakeholders are expected to attend the event, which will include remarks from project partners and a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Amity Commons and Allen Crossing were developed through a collaborative partnership between Spire Development, Wolverine Construction, the Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA), the City of Muskegon, Muskegon Housing Commission, Little River Holdings, Ohio Capital Corporation ( OCCH), and RiverHills Bank.

Together, the developments add new affordable housing options in Muskegon as the city continues efforts to address housing shortages and expand access to high-quality workforce and senior housing. The communities received Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) support through MSHDA and opened in early 2026.

Amity Commons is a general occupancy affordable housing community, while Allen Crossing is designed to serve senior residents.

Muskegon has faced a significant shortage of affordable housing units in recent years, prompting public-private investment in developments like Amity Commons and Allen Crossing.
