That’s what the Watch Muskegon campaign asked visitors and locals alike to do during July.
Professional and amateur photographers were invited to use the hashtag #ThisIsMuskegon on Instagram and Facebook to enter a contest with a grand prize of $1,000.
While a top 12 was promised, the judges — marketing, media, art, business and community leadership – chose a top 15. First, second and third places, along with an honorable mention, were announced on Monday, Aug. 14.
Photos were judged on “originality, creativity, composition and ability to capture the spirit of Muskegon,” according to the contest rules. “We are looking for uniquely Muskegon moments that highlight the fun attributes of our community and reflect the positive, genuine image and beautiful nature of Muskegon.”
