Public Invited to Review Heritage Landing Master Plan Concepts at Open House September 23

MUSKEGON, MI – Muskegon County Parks invites residents, park users, event organizers, and community stakeholders to attend a public open house to review and provide feedback on three preliminary concepts for the future of Heritage Landing. The open house will be held Wednesday, September 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the event space at Motu Lakeshore Wine Bar, 1208 8th Street (8th and Western Ave.) in downtown Muskegon, directly across the street from Heritage Landing.
The concepts were developed by SmithGroup, a nationally recognized planning and design firm, following extensive community engagement that included input from local residents, event organizers, the Muskegon County Parks Commission, and County staff.
Attendees will have an opportunity to review the three concepts, ask questions, and provide comments on the ideas presented. Feedback gathered during the open house will be evaluated by SmithGroup and used to help develop a preferred concept for Heritage Landing.
“The community’s input has been a critical part of this planning process,” said Bob Lukens, Community Development Director for Muskegon County. “This open house is an opportunity for residents and park users to help shape the future vision for one of Muskegon County’s premier waterfront destinations.”
Following the public review process, SmithGroup will prepare a final recommended concept for consideration by the Muskegon County Parks Commission and Muskegon County Board of Commissioners. If approved, the master plan will move forward into design and engineering through a phased implementation approach.
Heritage Landing is one of Muskegon County’s signature waterfront parks and serves as a venue for community events, festivals, recreation, and public access to Muskegon Lake.
