Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System is thrilled to announce the receipt of a $30,000 grant from the Youth Field of Interest Funds of the Community Foundation for Muskegon County. $30,000 is about 1/3 of the budget for this project.  If we win this contest we will be at about 1/2 of what we are working towards! These funds will be used towards the installation of a community playground at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Academy!

The Muskegon Heights Public School Academy System has been on a mission to build this playground for over a year. The playground will be on the site of the current 2nd – 6th grade building where the current 8 – 12 year old students have only an empty field as a playground.

Student and community members have been involved in designing the playground and will continue to have input in the final product, as well as be invited to participate in the installation and opening anticipated this summer.

The Academy welcomes additional donations toward this project. Interested donors can make a gift to the Muskegon Heights Public School Academy Campaign Fund at www.cffmc.org/give-now.
