Muskegon, MI — September 12, 2025

Pioneer Resources, a local non-profit dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities, is celebrating 70 years of incorporation with a community Open House on Thursday, September 18, from 4:30–6:30 p.m. at 1145 Wesley Avenue in Muskegon.

Prior to its incorporation in 1955, Pioneer Resources began as a group of parents and educators in the late 1940s, operating as Pioneer School and providing education and therapy to children with disabilities. Today, Pioneer Resources provides essential services including transportation, housing, day programs, autism therapy, recreation and camp opportunities, and vocational training; creating opportunities for participation in the community for almost 80 years.

The Open House will give community members the chance to tour Pioneer Resources’ facility, meet staff and participants, and learn more about the organization’s mission and programs. Guests will also enjoy a hosted bar and hors d’oeuvres as they celebrate this milestone anniversary.

“We are honored to celebrate over 70 years of serving our community,” said Jill Bonthuis, CEO. “This event is not only a reflection on our history but also an opportunity to thank our supporters and look forward to the future as we continue to expand opportunities for the people we serve.”

The event is free and open to the public and an RSVP is appreciated. Pioneer Resources invites community members, partners, and supporters to attend and join in celebrating this important
milestone.
