Muskegon Surgery Center is First Surgery Center in Michigan, Second in Nation to Use Mazor X™ Stealth Robotic Guidance Platform for Spine Surgery

Muskegon, Michigan – Muskegon Surgery Center (MSC) is pleased to announce it will now offer surgical spine procedures using the Mazor X™ Stealth Robotic Guidance Platform for Spine Surgery. MSC is only the second ambulatory surgery center in the nation, and the first in Michigan to make this state-of-the-art robotic spine system technology available to its patients.

As spinal surgery has evolved, more focus has been placed on minimally-invasive techniques, and this is where the Mazor XTM Platform can deliver its greatest technological benefits. Smaller incisions associated with minimally-invasive procedures can pose a challenge to surgeons due to the limited view of the patient’s anatomy. The Mazor X™ Stealth Robotic Guidance Platform helps to overcome this challenge with a 3D comprehensive surgical plan and analytics that give the surgeon comprehensive information and visualization before the surgery starts. The ability to create a plan with this level of detail results in greater precision and fewer changes during surgery.

“Muskegon Surgery Center has been an innovative leader in Michigan’s outpatient surgical care industry since it opened in 2009,” said CEO Julie Greene. “We were the first in West Michigan to create outpatient total knee, outpatient total hip and outpatient spine surgery programs. Now, with this addition, we are the first ambulatory surgery center in the United States to offer both the Mazor X™ Stealth Platform for spine surgery and the Mako™ Robotic-Arm Assisted Surgery System for hip and knee joint replacement. This is another example of our commitment to providing the best possible surgical experience for our patients and their families, and West Michigan residents should be aware that they do not need to travel to benefit from the finest outpatient technology and care available.”
