Muskegon Police Department will be holding a Citizen’s Police Academy

The Muskegon Police Department will be holding a Citizen’s Police Academy with the purpose of providing citizens with a better understanding of the functions of law enforcement, dispelling misconceptions and increasing positive communication between citizens and police. In order to graduate, students must attend the weekly classes. Any student who misses more than two (2) evenings will not receive a graduation certificate but may continue to attend. Class size is limited to 30 students and preference will be given to those who reside or work in the City of Muskegon. The age requirement is that all students must be a high school senior or above and 17 years of age or older. There is no upper age limit.

 

The course start date is August 28, 2019 and runs for 10 weeks until October 30, 2019. Classes are held every Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The application deadline is August 16, 2019. Applications and waiver forms may be picked up at the Muskegon Police Department or may be printed from the Muskegon Police Department website www.muskegonpolice.com The completed hard copy application and waiver forms may be dropped off at the Muskegon Police Department, 980 Jefferson Street or may be mailed to: Attn: Police-Community Coordinator, Muskegon Police Department, 980 Jefferson Street, Muskegon, MI 49440.
