The Muskegon Police Department will be holding a Citizen’s Police Academy with the purpose of providing citizens with a better understanding of the functions of law enforcement, dispelling misconceptions and increasing positive communication between citizens and police. In order to graduate, students must attend the weekly classes. Any student who misses more than two (2) evenings will not receive a graduation certificate but may continue to attend. Class size is limited to 30 students and preference will be given to those who reside or work in the City of Muskegon. The age requirement is that all students must be a high school senior or above and 17 years of age or older. There is no upper age limit.
The course start date is August 28, 2019 and runs for 10 weeks until October 30, 2019. Classes are held every Wednesday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The application deadline is August 16, 2019.
