MUSKEGON, MI – Muskegon County is the most veteran-friendly county in Michigan, according to the Michigan Veterans Affair Agency.

Muskegon County has been recognized as a bronze-level Veteran-Friendly Employer by MVAA, and is the only county in the state to receive the award. It recognizes the county’s efforts to hire and support veteran talent in its workforce.

“We appreciate the values, leadership, and unique skills service members bring to the workforce and will encourage opportunities to hire guardsmen, reservists, and veterans” says Kristen Wade, Muskegon County human resources director. “We will continually recognize and support our country’s Service members and their families, in peace, in crises and in war.”

The county includes about 40 departments, such as administration, finance and management, public works, Visit Muskegon, parks, sheriff and more. It employs about 1,200 people.
