Muskegon-area United Way reaches 100 years of serving the community

MUSKEGON, MI – United Way of the Lakeshore has served the Muskegon area for 100 years – albiet under a couple different names. The organization began as the Muskegon War Chest in 1918, establishing a “community chest” to serve the families of troops and others. The public is invited to celebrate the 100-year anniversary from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, at the Frauenthal Center, 425 W. Western Ave., downtown Muskegon.
