Mona Shores High School’s Grand Opening Celebration for the student-run coffee shop, Anchor Cafe, is happening on January 10, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. To commemorate the opening of the Cafe, there will be a ribbon-cutting, tour of the facility, and sample of the drinks offered at the Anchor Cafe which is located in the newly-renovated Library Media Center/Learning Commons.
The Anchor Cafe is entirely run by business department students, and is the first of its kind in the area. The students involved in the cafe have developed the product, helped to design the cafe, and worked on other aspects of opening a food business. Students have worked alongside high school staff throughout the process of developing this venture as well as partnering with local professionals to ensure the cafe is up to standards.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony is to celebrate all the hard work and dedication that has gone into the opening of Anchor Cafe. Judy Hunt, marketing teacher at Mona Shores, said, “We’re excited about having a student-run coffee shop at our high school, and we want to share it with the community.” Hunt and her marketing students have been planning the grand opening of Anchor Cafe for months and want to thank the community for their support throughout the process. The full service cafe offers hot and cold specialty drinks and proudly serves Magnum Coffee.
Mona Shores High School is located at 1121 Seminole Road in Muskegon, Michigan and is home to approximately 1200 students.
