MOKA Welcomes Five New Adult Foster Care Homes in Acquisition from Samaritas
Muskegon, MI — MOKA is pleased to welcome five Adult Foster Care (AFC) homes to its Residential Program in Muskegon County through an acquisition from Samaritas. This acquisition benefits both providers by increasing capacity for quality care and strengthening community relationships in their respective programs.
“We are really honored to have been awarded the contracts to support the people living in the Samaritas homes in Muskegon. We look forward to working with many dedicated and committed employees and leaders as we continue to bring them on board with our agency,” said MOKA Executive Director Tracey Hamlet when asked about the acquisition.
MOKA is excited to expand its residential offerings in Muskegon, adding five homes to its 30-plus established residential homes across West Michigan. This transition will be completed by the end of summer 2025, with three of the five homes already having completed their onboarding process.
The people currently living in the Samaritas homes will remain in their residences and continue to receive care under MOKA. Many of the employees who had been working in the Samaritas homes have also transitioned to MOKA, allowing for a smoother and more familiar experience for the people served.
“It is wonderful to be able to welcome the employees that have been the primary supports for the residents joining MOKA’s care, as it makes for a smoother transition,” said Daniyel Baer, MOKA’s Regional Residential Director. “They are knowledgeable and compassionate leaders that we are excited to have as part of our MOKA team!”
The MOKA team would like to extend its thanks to all new residents and their families, current and transitioning employees, and Samaritas for entrusting them with making this a positive and successful acquisition.
