Mission for Area People Same Name – Same Great Services A New Identity

Community News |Feb 2, 2023|2 min read

Mission for Area People (MAP) is launching a rebranding campaign with a new logo and improved information to our community, supporters, and customers.

“While we continue to provide many of our same services, such as the Healthy Choices Food Pantry with personal care items, Clothing and Household Items Pantry, as well as the Medical/Prescription Support Fund; we have expanded our services as well”, says Vondie Woodbury, Chair of the Mission for Area People Board of Directors.

MAP provides transportation assistance for the ALICE population (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed). These funds, provided to MAP through United Way of the Lakeshore, help low-income working families with car repair, car insurance, gas cards, car registration, and the cost of driver’s licenses. ALICE funds ensure the ALICE population obtain and maintain employment.

Additional services MAP provides include rental and utility assistance (when funds are available), Teen Town Christmas, and nutrition classes.

“We believe our new logo better represents the fact that we help not only individuals in need, but entire families with a ‘hand up, not a hand out’. Mission for Area People assesses need, verifies the need, and provides wrap around assistance working with other agencies and organizations. When partnering with other agencies or churches, “MAP acts as a clearinghouse for organizations in Muskegon County,” says Diana Wright-Stubbs, MAP Executive Director.

Thank you to the hundreds of individual donors, churches, businesses, labor unions, and other organizations who continue to support Mission for Area People as we enter our 57th year of service to all of Muskegon County.

We continue to look for ways to improve our services and communications with our community. The needs are significant, and we hope to continue receiving your support.
