MCC and United Way Partner for Newly Rescheduled Day of Caring
Muskegon County, MI – As part of its 100th anniversary celebration, Muskegon Community College (MCC) will partner with United Way of the Lakeshore to host the countywide Day of Caring on Friday, April 24, 2026, bringing hundreds of volunteers together to serve communities across Muskegon County.
Day of Caring is United Way of the Lakeshore’s annual day of service that mobilizes volunteers to support local non-profit organizations, schools, and community spaces through hands-on projects.
Typically held in the fall, officials say the Day of Caring will move to springtime in 2026 in an effort to increase participation from local corporations and the broader community.
“Muskegon Community College was founded on the idea that education and community go hand in hand,” said Dr. John Selmon, President of Muskegon Community College. “Partnering with United Way of the Lakeshore for Day of Caring during our centennial year reflects who we are and what we’ve always stood for.”
MCC will serve as the official kickoff location, welcoming volunteers to campus before they disperse throughout the county. Together, volunteers will be painting Muskegon Blue & Gold.
“Day of Caring is about neighbors showing up for neighbors,” said Lisa Tyler, President & CEO of United Way of the Lakeshore. “Partnering with Muskegon Community College during its centennial year is a powerful reminder of what’s possible when education, service, and community come together. We’re proud to stand alongside MCC and hundreds of volunteers to create lasting impact across Muskegon County.”
Organizations interested in receiving volunteer support are encouraged to complete a Day of Caring Project Request Form, which is open to non-profit organizations, schools, and community project requests.
