Muskegon, MI (September 13, 2021) – Taste of Muskegon returns to Hackley Park on September 24 and 25 with a few new twists.

The festival is adding a local spirits tent which will offer three crafted cocktails from Muskegon’s distillers. The cocktails will highlight Wonderland Distilling Company’s whiskey, Burl & Sprig’s rum and The 18th Amendment’s gin.

Locally-made packaged foods have also been on the rise. To celebrate these businesses, Taste is debuting an Artisan Market featuring MOMs-Marge’s Outstanding Meat and Snacks, What’s Your Jam, Nova Supernatural Bakery and Happy Matt’s Kettle Corn. Their products will be available to take a Taste of Muskegon home with you.

Taste is also taking a greener approach to the event. In a partnership with West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum (WMSBF), Taste will work closely with the food vendors to decrease the amount of waste going to the landfill, redirecting aluminum and cardboard to be recycled. This is the first of a multi-year plan with WMSBF to build a more sustainable festival.

A new Taste Plate Award will honor the food truck or restaurant with the most sustainable practices.

“We are always looking for new ways to highlight a Taste of what’s happening in Muskegon. The addition of the distillers and the Artisan Market is a new way to celebrate these great businesses,” said Lisa Kraus, Director of Marketing for Taste of Muskegon. “It has been a goal of ours to make the event greener, and the partnership with West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum has been a catalyst to make that happen. It’s an honor to have been selected as one of their focus festivals.”

Taste of Muskegon, produced by the Downtown Development Authority, will take place on September 24th and 25th in Hackley Park. The festival features a competition between Muskegon’s best local restaurants and food trucks. Headlining the festival is Simply Queen on Saturday with Rock Show: The Ulitmate Tribute to Journey on Friday night. Saturday will begin with United Way’s annual Ride United biking event. Awards for Taste of Muskegon’s best plates will take place Saturday afternoon and includes both judge and public votes.
