Help Win New Trees in Muskegon County!

Chamber Blog |Apr 1, 2025|2 min read

Hundreds of Muskegon County residents have proven over the years that cleaner energy is a priority for them by participating in DTE Energy’s Natural Gas Balance. This program provides an easy and affordable way to address up to 100% of carbon emissions from natural gas usage in heating, water heaters, cooking and other home uses – without you needing to make any changes.

For Earth Month, DTE has a special offer for Muskegon County. If 80 residents enroll in Natural Gas Balance by the end of April, we will plant 10 trees in Pioneer Park as a celebration of residents’ commitment to sustainability and Michigan’s environment.

When you enroll in Natural Gas Balance, you are:

  • Preserving Michigan’s unique ecosystem including forests, coastlines, meadows and more by balancing your carbon footprint.
  • Promoting sound forest management in more than 20,000 acres of trees across 13 counties in the Upper Peninsula. These forests act as natural carbon recyclers while also preserving the habitats for wildlife like moose, bears, elk, cougars and more.
  • Contributing to the advancement of renewable natural gas to reduce methane escaping into the atmosphere.

The key to planting more trees is enrolling in Natural Gas Balance by April 30, 2025.
