Caregiver/Child Workshop

In-Person at Hackley Library

Wednesdays, March 5 through April 2, from 10:00-11:15am

This five-week workshop helps connect families with community resource professionals on a variety of topics related to these crucial development years.

We encourage new and returning families to sign up.  Our goal is to foster community connections and lasting relationships!  Registration is required – sign-up by calling 231-722-8014 or using the form linked above. Free.  Ages 1-4.

In March we celebrate Women’s Herstory! Take and make our Female Family Tree to honor those women who inspire us, who we admire, and who we love! While you’re here you can also grab our Women’s History Coloring Book!

Available beginning Monday, March 3, and through the month while supplies last.  Free.

Intended for ages 0-5, our in-person Story Time is designed to teach early literacy skills to parents and caregivers, while children enjoy a fun, interactive atmosphere.  We’ll read stories, sing songs, and do movement activities!  Please check HPL’s Facebook page for any cancellations.  Free.

We designate this hour every month for crafting, projects, and more for our patrons ages 13-18 in our Teen Room on the first floor of HPL.  Please check our Facebook page or our Instagram (@hackleylibraryteens) for the monthly theme!  Free.

Paws and Read with Breezy and Dolly

Select Mondays from 4:00 – 5:00pm

Mondays, March 10 & 24

Practice and strengthen literacy skills by reading out loud to our friendly therapy dogs. They’re calm, non-judgmental listeners who are excited to hear all the stories — and receive all the belly rubs. Ages 3-12. Free.

LEGO Education – Select Wednesdays

Third Wednesday of each Month

These STEAM kits provide hands-on learning experiences that spark imagination and develop problem solving skills. These are self-guided lessons with minimal staff assistance.  Ages 6-14.  Kits are for students in grades 1-5 and grades 6-8.
They are available first come, first served.  Free.

We’re back with another head-to-head Lego competition!

Form your team of 2-4 builders and prepare to build your Lego set faster than the other teams.  This friendly competition is registration only and teams must register ahead of time.  Registration information will be available closer to the event at hackleylibrary.org or by calling 231-722-8014.   Ages 8-12.  Free.

Left to Write – Creative Writing Group

Meets the 2nd Wednesday of each month

If you enjoy creative writing, you’ll love Left to Write, HPL’s very own creative writing group!  Here you can participate in writing exercises, share your own stories, and meet other creative writers (of all experiences, new or seasoned!).

This group provides a low-key atmosphere for writers of all experiences, and everyone is welcome!  Remember to bring paper and your favorite pen.
