Book Club at HPL

Monday, June 1 at 5:30pm
Join us at Hackley Library for a different take on Book Club! We’ll meet on the first Monday of each month. Each month there will be a theme, where you can choose a book based around that theme. At Book Club, you’ll be able to share about the book you read, and discover reads from other attendees! For June, the theme is to read a book outside of your comfort zone. Free.
Pride Author Night

Come celebrate PRIDE month with local LGBTQIA authors in Muskegon and surrounding areas! You can purchase books, meet the authors, and get your copies signed for the full experience. An Evening of Pre-War Blues – MUSIC at HPL

An evening of Pre-War Blues music is a musical and historical survey of the Blues from the turn of the 20th Century until World War II. It covers the heavy hitters of acoustic blues music from Blind Lemon Jefferson to Charley Patton, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, and more. This presentation touches on the longstanding tradition of the disenfranchisement of people of African descent, how the mistreatment created the Blues, and the indelible mark left on American Music and Art. Lighthouse Story Time

Wednesdays in June and July at 3:00pm
Catch some sun and fresh air out at the Pere Marquette Lighthouse on Wednesdays in June and July! We’ll read stories, sing songs, and watch the boats out on the lake. Soft mats are provided for seating. Story Time is free.
Preschool Story Time

Thursdays in June at 10:30am
Intended for ages 0-5, our in-person Story Time is designed to model early literacy skills to parents and caregivers, while children enjoy a fun, interactive atmosphere. We’ll read stories, sing songs, and do movement activities! Please check HPL’s Facebook page for any cancellations and our current schedule. Free.

Paint and Dinosaurs? What could be more fun! Bring your art skills and we will supply the dinosaur feet and paint! This drop-in family program is open to kids of all ages. Free!
Toddler Sensory Program at HPL

Toddler play is fun and messy! Let your toddler explore our themed sensory centers at Hackley Library, and we’ll worry about the clean up. Ages 0-4.Free.
Build a Dino LEGO Competition

Wednesday, June 17 from 3:00 – 4:00pm
We’re back with another head-to-head LEGO competition, and this time with DINOS!
Form your team of 2-4 builders and prepare to build your LEGO set faster than the other teams. This friendly competition is registration only and teams must register ahead of time. Please call 231-722-8014 to register. Ages 7-12. Free!
Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary
In-Person at Hackley Library
Monday, June 22 at 4:00pm
This event is geared toward families with youth of all ages.
Join us to meet some cool critters when Critchlow comes to town!
This program will take place in HPL’s meeting rooms, and meeting room doors will open roughly 10 minutes before the program begins. Free.
Registration is not required, and space will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Critchlow Alligator Sanctuary is an Animal Shelter, Zoo, and Edutainment Attraction in SW Michigan. They are open to the public between May and October.
Drawing Dinos with artist Corinne Roberts

Wednesday, June 24 at 10:00am
Using basic shapes and simple line technique, learn to create your favorite dinosaurs. No prior drawing experience is needed. Materials needed are: simple paper, pencil, and eraser. Ages 8-17 (An adult must be present for ages 8-10). Free!
