End the Year with an Impact: How to Support Your Community over the Holidays
What better way to celebrate this giving season than by giving back to your community? Whether it’s time, money, or resources, we all have something valuable that we can share to spread warmth, kindness, and goodwill during the coldest months of the year.
At LMCU, community impact is at the core of our member-focused mission. From housing and education to health, wellbeing, and economic inclusion, our philanthropic pillars are wide reaching, and our annual Ending the Year Strong campaign is the culmination of our year-long volunteer work. During November and December, we amplify our efforts to give back, so we can close out the year with a bang and kick off the new year with energy, optimism, and momentum to do even more good.
For example, For example, this year’s Lakeshore Ending the Year Strong event was held at Nestlings Diaper Bank. Our LMCU Impact Crew wrapped diapers in support of babies across West Michigan.
Looking for ways to get involved, too? There are plenty of local organizations that would appreciate a little extra help, especially at this time of year. Here are just a few ideas.
One of the best parts about the holidays has to be the food, so while you enjoy heaping helpings of stuffing, mashed potatoes, and more, consider helping others put food on the table, too. Causes like Meals on Wheels and Feeding America are always seeking volunteers to connect families and the elderly with nutritious meals.
If you want to get even more creative with your volunteerism, groups like Artists Creating Together are looking for help spreading holiday cheer and seasonal carols in West Michigan, as they empower individuals with disabilities through the inspiring potential of art.
For even more chances to connect with your community, just visit VolunteerWestMI.org to discover a volunteer opportunity that suits your skills and schedule. And even if you can’t find the time to volunteer, simply doing your holiday shopping locally is always a great way to support the places we all call home.
We at LMCU wish you a safe and happy holiday season — here’s to Ending the Year Strong!
