Consumers Credit Union Welcomes Jeff Potter to Mortgage Team
Kalamazoo, Mich. — Consumers is pleased to announce the addition of Jeff Potter as mortgage sales manager, who brings nearly three decades of mortgage industry experience, proven leadership and a deep community commitment to the organization.
In his new role, Potter will focus on driving mortgage production while recruiting and developing top lending talent. His long-term vision includes building a team and growing mortgage production, all while maintaining a member-first approach rooted in service and trust.
Potter joins Consumers after serving in a senior mortgage leadership role within the credit union industry, where he managed lending teams across multiple states. With 29 years of experience in mortgage sales and management, he brings extensive knowledge of lending strategies, team development and operational excellence.
“For me, serving members means never settling for ‘good enough,’” said Potter. “Buying a home is one of the most important financial decisions a person can make, and my goal is to ensure that our members feel supported, informed and confident every step of the way.”
Beyond his professional career, Jeff is a Navy veteran and retired firefighter for the City of Zeeland, certified as Firefighter I & II and EMT-B. His commitment to service extends deeply into the community through his work with Shields of Hope, a West Michigan-based nonprofit he co-founded more than a decade ago.
Shields of Hope is a registered 501(c)(3) organization comprised of local public safety professionals who volunteer their time to support individuals and families impacted by cancer. Since its founding, the organization has raised more than $1 million, with 100% of funds staying local, providing assistance through programs such as Heroes Helping Heroes, Heroes Holiday and family support experiences. Potter’s dedication to this mission has earned him community recognition, including the Fox 17 Pay It Forward Spotlight Award.
