Arson of a Dwelling

The Norton Shores Police Department is investigating an Arson in the 1800 Block of Channel Rd. located inside the Maranatha Complex.  Officers and Firefighters were called to the area on September 10, 2016 at 2229 hours for a house fire.  It was quickly determined that the fire was intentionally set in two places inside the residence.  Detectives along with fire investigators from Norton Shores Fire Department have been actively investigating the Arson with insurance investigators. They have determined that the owners of the residence were not involved in setting the fire and were not at home at the time of the fire.

The fire was quickly noticed by nearby residents who saw flames and heard smoke detectors going off and then called 911.  There quick action prevented any major structural damage to the residence however the home had severe smoke damage throughout.  The home is still being repaired and damage thus far has exceeded $200,000.  Detectives are requesting public assistance with any information related to this crime.

The Maranatha Association is committed to having a crime free community. They have raised reward money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or person’s responsible for the Arson.  The Maranatha Association has partnered with Silent Observer in offering this reward of up to $5,000.
