Alumni Unite for One-Night-Only Celebration Honoring Longtime Mona Shores Choir Directors, Shawn and Molly Lawton
NORTON SHORES – The Mona Shores community is invited to an unforgettable evening of music, memories, and celebration as alumni and current students take the stage for “Pop Go the Sailors – Home Again: Salute to The Lawtons,” a special alumni fundraising show honoring the retirement of Shawn and Molly Lawton, two music educators who have poured their hearts into building a choral and theatrical tradition unlike any other. This one-night-only event will take place on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center at Mona Shores High School.
After 32 years of extraordinary leadership, inspiration, and musical excellence, the Lawtons will be honored with a performance featuring decades of choir alumni and current Mona Shores students. The audience can expect the heartfelt magic the Mona Shores Choir program is known for—whether through Pop Shows, the iconic Singing Christmas Tree, or moving musical performances that have left an enduring mark on generations of students and community members alike.
“This isn’t just a performance—it’s a homecoming,” says Producer Matthew D’Oyly, a 2000 alumnus of the choir. “Shawn and Molly have changed lives through their mentorship, passion, and unwavering commitment to their students. This show is a celebration of their legacy and a tribute from the countless people they’ve inspired.”
In addition to honoring the Lawtons, the evening serves a deeper purpose: securing the future of the Mona Shores Choir Program.
