Muskegon, MI – This Valentine’s Day, AgeWell Services of West Michigan is inviting community members of all ages to help foster kindness and connection for local older adults by creating handmade Valentine’s Day cards filled with encouraging and heartfelt messages.

AgeWell Services’ annual Valentine’s Day Card decorating initiative aims to collect 3,500 handmade cards that will be delivered to older adults across Oceana, Muskegon and Ottawa counties. These cards offer more than a seasonal greeting. They provide meaningful connection, brighten days and remind older adults that they are valued members of the community.

“Something as simple as a handmade card can create a powerful moment of connection,” said Kris VanderStelt, Executive Director at AgeWell Services. “For many older adults we serve, these cards are a reminder that someone is thinking of them and cares.”

All are encouraged to participate. Cards should exclude any religious messaging and include positive, friendly messages. No food or candy items should be delivered with cards.

Card Deadline and Drop Off Information

All cards are due by Monday, February 9, 2026.

Cards may be delivered Monday through Thursday, 9 am – 3 pm, to either location:

  • AgeWell Services Admin Building – 275 W Clay Ave Ste 100, Muskegon, MI 49440)
  • Tanglewood Park – 560 Seminole Rd, Norton Shores, MI 49444

This initiative reflects AgeWell Services’ mission to support older adults through programs that promote nutrition, connection, independence and dignity.
