A Plea to the Community to Ensure Essential Meals Are Delivered to Homebound Seniors. AgeWell Services Needs Volunteer Drivers for Meals on Wheels.

Muskegon, MI – AgeWell Services urgently needs volunteer drivers for its Meals on Wheels program to ensure that homebound seniors in our community receive much-needed meals and wellness checks. We are calling on compassionate individuals to step forward and help us deliver these vital services.

Volunteer drivers needed for these routes and meet at these locations:

  • Muskegon: Meet at Tanglewood Park, 560 Seminole Rd, Muskegon, MI 49444.
  • Whitehall/Montague: Meet at SHAWL Apartments, 225 Hall St, Whitehall, MI 49461

Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles to deliver meals and perform wellness checks on seniors who may otherwise see no one else throughout the day. Approximately 60% of our participants report that our Meals on Wheels drivers are their only daily connection to the outside world.

“You’re not just delivering a meal,” said Kris VanderStelt, Executive Director of AgeWell Services. “You’re offering a lifeline, a wellness check, and a friendly face to individuals who may be isolated and vulnerable.”

Delivery Details:

  • Delivery Window: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
  • Frequency: Deliveries are made Monday through Friday in most areas. Deliveries in Holland occur on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Volunteers choose the days they are available to deliver or you can become a fill-in driver.
  • Mileage Reimbursement: Available to volunteers. Drivers may also choose to donate their reimbursement back to AgeWell Services to further support our mission.
  • Background Check: All volunteers are screened through background checks prior to approval to volunteer.

Why Volunteer? Volunteering with Meals on Wheels provides an immense and nearly immeasurable impact, not only on the seniors served but also on the volunteers themselves. The act of delivering a healthy, delicious meal along with a wellness check creates a stronger, more connected community.

How to Get Involved: If you’re ready to make a difference in the lives of local seniors, please contact AgeWell Services today.

Together, we can ensure that no senior in our community goes hungry or feels forgotten.
