A Message from 2021 Board Chair, Dave Hazekamp

As we all know, in today’s changing world, transformation is critical to the sustainability and growth of any organization. This means making fundamental changes to your business model or operation. It could include technology, personnel, processes and in some cases, the products we produce or the services we provide.

This past year we have experienced what involuntary transformation looks like in how we operate as a business or an organization. We have had to adapt quickly to the changing landscape created by an outside source, using all means necessary to make it through the day, the week, and the month.

Historically, strategic changes in any organization start at the top with a strong commitment from leadership at all levels. Changes that used to take years must now be done in a matter of months or less.

This past year has proved that we had to make changes in weeks, days or even hours to adapt to the needs necessary, to keep our employees safe, and our operations running.

In 2021, your chamber will focus on promoting a dialogue around “change” from an internal source and will promote the resources needed to support changes in your organization with a more predictable path going forward.

As we emerge from this current environment and move forward into the new year, I believe it’s important to remember that there is no such thing as a strong community, without a strong business community.

Your organization’s success will ultimately ensure the success of our greater community for years to come.

The Muskegon Lakeshore Chamber of Commerce has the resources you need to succeed and is ready to help.

Bring on 2021.
