June 22, 2015 -- The American Basketball Association (ABA) www.americanbasketballassociation.org today announced that Ron Jenkins, co-owner/head coach of the West Michigan Lake Hawks has been named the Division Chairman of the league's North Central Division. "Ron has shown great leadership since the day he joined the ABA," stated ABA co-founder Joe Newman. "On the court, he has an excellent team; off the court, he runs the Lake Hawks professionally and has established great relationships with all of the teams in the NC Division."
June 19, 2015 -- Recently named a “Leader to Learn From” by Education Week, Kathy Fortino will soon retire from her position as Muskegon Area Intermediate School District (MAISD) Associate Superintendent for Special Education and Early Childhood Services. In her role at the MAISD, Fortino also oversees educational programming for the countywide Juvenile Transition Center and You Turn Program for expelled students.
June 12, 2015 -- United Way of the Lakeshore’s Board of Directors recently awarded more than $1.1 million to dozens of programs in Muskegon, Oceana and Newaygo counties. In addition to the more than $1.1 million awarded to agencies, more than about $900,000 was directly designated by donors to nonprofit agencies, awarded in response grants, emergency relief, after-school programs, volunteer center programming, and human service center and other program work.

Lieutenant Commander Adam Williamson leads an inspiring and entertaining program showcasing the Band’s diverse talents. Patriotic songs, marches, and a tribute to service veterans are featured throughout the evening. Senior Chief Musician Andrew Grenci raises the roof with “Concerto in Rock” for bass clarinet and band, while Musician 1st Class Megan Weikleenget, vocalist, adds a touch of classical with “Je veux vivre” from Gounod’s opera “Romeo and Juliette.”
