January 23, 2015 - On Friday, January 23, 2015, the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center (MACTC) will host its First Annual Modern Manufacturing Day. The goal of this event is to help bridge the gap between schools and manufacturing. Locally and nationally, manufacturing employers are reporting a skilled labor shortage. This event will help employers connect with future generations and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the industry. So far twelve employers are signed up to participate.
January 21, 2015 - The 3rd Annual “Show Me the Money Day - Muskegon” will take place Saturday, January 31, at Christ Temple Church, 412 East Sherman, Muskegon Heights, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. Presented by the West Michigan CRA Association, this free event will feature a financial resource fair, free lunch, prizes, and free financial workshops, including: Basics for Borrowing, Budgeting and Managing Credit; DIY On a Budget; College Financial Aid; Learning to Live on Less; Identity Theft; Predatory Lending; and Purchasing a Home. Prizes will be given away at workshops, in addition to drawings throughout the day. A Grand Prize of a tablet will be given away at the end of the day; those who attend workshops and the resource fair are eligible for the drawing. Congressman Bill Huizenga and Muskegon County Treasurer Tony Moulatsiotis will be on hand to kick off the event.
January 20, 2015 - Baker College of Muskegon received the Chamber Ambassador Brick Award at the January Early Bird Breakfast of the Chamber of Commerce Grand Haven, Spring Lake, Ferrysburg, on Friday, Jan. 16. The award recognizes Baker College’s investment in the construction of the Health Science Center, a new two-story 35,000-square-foot building.
January 20, 2015 - There are approximately 2.2 million Americans age 40 and older who have glaucoma, and half of those are at risk for going blind because they do not know they have the disease. You could be one of them.
Baker College of Muskegon will hold its 2015 financial aid workshop, 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 7. The event is designed to help potential college-bound high school seniors and their parents understand and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2015-2016 academic year.

January 16, 2015 - Students from the Catering & Culinary Management program at the Muskegon Area Career Tech Center (MACTC) visited the Culinary Institute of Michigan (CIM) in downtown Muskegon today to witness demonstrations and tour the modern culinary facility. The visit gave students the chance to meet instructors one-on-one, and experience what it is like for students who choose to attend the CIM.
January 16, 2015 - The Great Start Collaborative of Muskegon County is beginning the new year by launching a new website: ParentVille.org. The site is designed to guide Muskegon-area parents of children ages birth to five in their role as their children’s first-teacher and to prepare children to be successful in kindergarten.
