Bike Time 2012 revs BIG economic impact

At least 100,000 people and 60,000 bikes passed through the downtown area during the four-day event, up from about 90,000 people estimated last year, said Clyde Whitehouse, chairman of the event.

The net economic impact is estimated at $20 million in hotel, store, restaurant and other purchases. The figure was estimated from other motorcycle events across the country where, on average, each person spends about $200 in a weekend, Whitehouse said.
