RIDE ON! MUSKEGON BIKES TO WORK presented by The Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce, Access Health, and the Employers Association of West Michigan.

An overwhelming response came from the Muskegon community as bicyclists came out to participate in the first Ride On! Muskegon County Bikes to Work Day”! The event, coordinated by the Muskegon Area Chamber of Commerce, the Employers Association of West Michigan, Access Health and many more, drew riders from all occupations andages with varied levels of riding activity and reasons for participating.

The purpose
of the event is to encourage and promote healthier lifestyles through the use of healthy, alternative forms of transportation and to reinforce to our community members that bicycling is a viable way to save money on transportation cost. Biking to work provides a safe, environmentally friendly, economical alternative to driving to work.

The event included prizes and raffle give-aways, 7 energizer hub stations set up throughout Muskegon to stop at or park and ride as well as meet other riders, enjoy refreshments, get a “I rode my bike to work today” sticker, helmets, safety information, and maps with suggested routes for getting to work.

Nearly 70 businesses registered to be part of the event. Over 350 area residents registered online to take part in Ride On!
The committee for this event is looking at future bike to work days, one being next May during the national Bike to Work Week.
