Mastering Social Media Marketing

Tips on mastering social media
• Don’t overwhelm your audience with too many messages. Prioritize your messages based on impact and timeliness.
• It’s a good idea to link Facebook and Twitter feeds to avoid duplicating messages
• Don’t just wait for people to come to your Facebook, comment on their pages, too
• Be brave with technology: Use video, pictures or audio podcasts to take your message to the masses
• When you make new business contacts at networking events, get business cards; when you get home, “friend” them on Facebook and “follow” them on Twitter
• Stay current… if someone posts something on your Facebook wall, respond to them in a timely manner. That helps build relationships and customer loyalty
• If someone posts negative comments to a public forum like Facebook, use it to your advantage… let supporters come to your rescue by listing all the great things you’re doing. If the nay-sayer is complaining about customer service, for example, spin it back to the positive by listing several customer service success stories from the past week
• Personalize it. The beauty of social media is that it gives everyone access to you. Whether you’re a small business or a large one, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn and other sites bring people inside your organization. Embrace the opportunity to build and sustain relationships
• Dedicate time every day to developing and implementing social media strategies. If you have a budget for it, integrate social media into your over all marketing plan
• Just do it. Social media is free!
